Speaking of habits, the members of the lay order of DHC do not wear habits. However, their vows include wearing their crosses habitually. The crosses represent who they are and what they do. Perhaps you have observed that Jerri Holder, Trish Mann, Diane Elderson, Laura Howser, Pat Smith, Pam Patteson and Judy Auger are each wearing their DHC cross.
Prayer - Daughters are pray-ers. They pray individually and collectively. As pray-ers, they are
automatically on the prayer chain. Christ said pray at all times. Daughters do. They
pray habitually.
Service - Daughters have a heart to serve. They serve on the various ministries of the church.
When daughters see any job that has to be done, they do it. They serve habitually.
Evangelism - Daughters strive to serve as strong examples of Christian women. Often when people
admire their unique crosses, it opens a conversational door to explain what their cross
represents. This just happens to be evangelism. They evangelize habitually.
Study - Daughters seem to be habitual students. They desire to learn and practice God's Word.
They read devotionals daily; they participate in Bible Studies; they attend DHC
gatherings or other seminars, or conferences. They study habitually.
All Christians may, or should, be doing the same as DHC's, the only difference being that a DHC takes a vow to make these habits her life's purpose.
