The Daughters of the King is a lay religious order of confirmed Episcopalian women who take a lifetime vow to live by the Rules of the Order. The Rule of Life of the order, which includes the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service, requires a spiritual discipline of daily prayer, service and evangelism. The mission of this order is the extension of Christ's Kingdom through the Living Rule. Each candidate for the Order is required to undergo a three-month preparatory period of study of the Order under an avowed sister, prayer and self-examination. This is a call to a life of prayer, service and evangelism and should not be undertaken lightly. The cross each daughter wears is blessed and issued at the time of her vows. It is to be worn continually as an outward and visible sign that we cannot live a day of our life without Christ. The Latin inscription is "Magnanimiter Crucem Sustine" which translates to "With heart, mind and spirit uphold and bear the cross." The initials at the bottom of the cross, "FHS" are our motto, "For His Sake."
St. Jude's Daughters of the King was installed on March 30, 2003 with five sisters and have since added a sixth. The Chapter meets the fourth Thursday of each month for Bible and Christian study, prayer and service discussions. In the year since our installation, the Daughters of St. Jude have initiated a church library and held a retreat for the women of the church led by the renowned Christian author, Lauraine Snelling.
If you feel you have been called to a life as described here and are a confirmed Episcopalian, Roman Catholic or a member of an ECLA Lutheran church, contact Christiane Hoffman, President, at 661-823-0775 for more information.
